Oak Creek Canyon Hiking

We decided to take a day hike after breakfast. We went north of Sedona to the West Fork of Oak Creek Canyon. We hiked about 6 miles into the canyon, crossing Oak Creek many times. What a beautiful sunny day... but we did see snow at this altitude-5000 feet.

Short Hike in the Whitetank Mountains-You can always click on a picture to enlarge it!

Some members of the hiking club at Grand. I'm in front by some accident. I hope they don't expect me to lead. Ron is number four in the line up-checking his watch to see how long it takes me to catch on!

All kinds of cacti...

Big ones...

and teeny tiny little ones. Hope you understand my scientific names for these plants! Ha!

Lots of lizards. Lots of snakes too-especially Diamond Backs (Yow!) but luckily haven't seen them yet. They saw a Gila Monster a couple hikes ago. Can't wait!

The destination! How beautiful! This is a dry waterfall. Maybe in spring of some year, we will see it. There is a 12 year drought here! Wonder when it's a climate change?
I love this hiking! The hikes are rated 1-5 with 5 being strenuous. This is a 1.9-just right for me until I shape up-won't be long now!

Great Saturday...Again!

It's Sat. and we just finished tennis this am. I got my butt whipped by some old people. In two years, I'll be in shape and they'll be older-I'll get them then!
This hummingbird has made a nest right next to where I sit on our back patio. What a treat! I can't wait to see how small the babies are.

Tortilla Flat Isn't FLAT-Posting By Sweet Pea-Blogger To Be!

We are training Lucas to be a hiker. So far he hasn't encountered any rattlesnakes just a couple Lizards.

Here we are on our way to Tortilla Flat in the
Tonto National Forest. Lucas made us pull over
so he could practice his hiking. How do you
think he did?

We all made it to Tortilla Flat. Here we are listening
to a band and having fun!

New Home-We're in!

White Mountain Hike-Grand Hikers Club

Here's that safari hiker, Ron, in the middle.

Hi Everyone!
It's been a while, because of moving into our new home. We are in Sun City Grand in Surprise, AZ. Our home is perfect for us and there are so many things to do that my body is definitely complaining about the inactivity for years in MI. The people here are more our age and definitly fitter. So, I have to work to keep up.
I feel like I am at summer camp. Ron and I are in the tennis club. I'm also taking lessons so as to not embarrass myself too much. We have been going to the fitness club-extremely nice and well equipped, and the pools. I went to Jazzercise yesterday and will have to work my way into this too but it is so fun. Today we joined the hiking club and went into the White Tank Mountains. It was just right for me. Met some great fun people. The pictures on top are from that hike.
Well, talk later. Need to rest! Ha!
